Stavros, Plakias, Kalathas, Chania
Spring. Sun. Sea. Splendid. Seafood. Superb. Sightseeing. Sagrada Familia. Sensational!
Welcome to Upper Swabia: I had to spend some weeks in Bad Buchau for rehab and found the time to explore the nearby nature reservations Federsee ("feather lake") and Wackelwald ("wiggle forrest") with my crutches.
Our probably last trip for this year lead us to Sicily, Italy, to see our friends Sara and Fabian in Pedara, near Catania. Among all the fun, food and music, we shared, one opportunity came unexpected, but the more fun it was: Cruising with Fabian on his Harley Davidson trike! We drove on Mount Etna and towards the south to Syracuse and we also gave Sophia the chance to celebrate halloween. What a wonderful travel this was - thank you so much, Sara and Fabian! Hope to see you again soon, wherever it might be!
Indian Summer in Southern Germany and second part of our spontanous weekend-trip. We drove to Reutte in Tyrol, Austria, where we enjoyed playing at the amazing blue Lech river. We took the funicular up to the peek of the Tannheim mountains, walked the barefoot path and we savoured the sun and the warmth as well as some good food and a few beers later.
It's a shame. But until the weekend I've never been to the magic Castle of Neuschwanstein - although it's only two driving hours away from our home! Isn't it one of the most popular tourist's destinations in Southern Germany!? We used the Indian summer weekend for the short trip to Bavaria and I'm proud now to scratch New Swanestone Castle from my bucket-list. Plus - it's worth the visit. Fun fact for all of our American friends: Disney used this romantic palace as a pattern for their fairytale castle of the sleeping beauty.
Days 371 to 379: so much time did we already spend on our favourite Greek island, since we started to come here 23 years ago. How do I know? Ask my scrapbook... This time, we actually did nothing else than relax. Which included friends, sun, sea, swimming, diving, laughing, drinking and eating. That was it. Good enough. Who knows, for how long this paradise for us all might continue...
We were invited to and spend a marvelous weekend with lovely friends who live at Lichtenberg Castle in Upper Franconia. Underneath their home, there's a more or less secret vault, which belonged to the castle a few hundred years ago. So we went down there to explore...
